Bober Tea
Bishan: 200 Bishan Road, #01-01, Singapore 579827 (Located at Bishan MRT Station)
Bukit Panjang Plaza: 1 Jelebu Road, #01-23, Singapore 677743
Boon Keng: 27 Bendemeer Road #01-665 Singapore 330027
Opening Hours: 11am – 10pm (Mon – Sun)
Artisanal bubble tea brand Bober Tea 御波坊, though a relatively new comer in the growing bubble tea industry in Singapore, has gained quite positive reputation and reviews.
The dessert-inspired Brown Sugar Crème Brûlée Milk ($4.30, $5.60) is one of the top-sellers, with options of the classic flavour Brown Sugar Boba Fresh Milk, to more fanciful ones added with Oreo, Matcha, to Roasted Oolong.
Their chewy QQ tapioca pearls are freshly made at their outlets. That QQ-texture chewiness is a result of cooking at 65°C for optimal chewiness and soaking for two hours to absorb all the brown sugar goodness.
If you enjoy pearls with a texture just in between, theirs are both soft and chewy.
Though they are loved for their Brown Sugar Crème Brûlée Milk with boba pearls, they have a plethora of other creative drinks. Other must-try original creations are Brown Sugar Roasted Oolong Milk, Salted Caramel Milk Tea, Hokkaido Chizu Matcha to Black Sugar Konjac Jelly Milk Tea.

Craving for Korean style breakfast? Egg Stop is a local kiosk that offers “Korean sandwich shack with an influence of American style breakfast comfort food”.
The shops offer ala-carte sandwich ($4.50 – $7.90) and set meal for an additional $2. Keeping the menu lean, they feature 6 different sandwiches that takes about 10 minutes to prepare as they are all freshly-done only upon ordering.
Flavours include Chicken Ham & Cheese ($4.50), Turkey Bacon & Cheese ($4.90), Smoked Chicken ($5.50), Beef Teriyaki ($6.90) and Beef Chilli Cheese ($5.90).
Using thick, buttery bread freshly baked daily, the bread is soft, moist and fluffy.
My favourite is the Beef Teriyaki ($6.90) with thinly sliced marinated beef torched for smokiness, teriyaki sauce, caramelised onion, mayonnaise and a single raw egg yolk.

Kipos Gourmet has become quite popular with the CBD crowd for its guilt-free bowls packed with quality protein and nutrient-dense super foods.
A selling point of Kipos is their Build Your Own Bowl, with customisable menu an array of items to pick and choose from.
Start with the base, and complete with other 5 components of Greens, Protein, Dressing, Lux and Crunch.
Dressings such as truffle shoyu, spicy mayo, roasted sesame, wasabi ponzu, chipotle and even mala are highlights – all of them made in-house.

Healthy Soba IKI
One Raffles Place #04-47, Singapore 048616
Tel: +65 6438 6022
Opening Hours: 11am – 9pm (Mon – Sat), Closed Sun
Healthy Soba IKI aims to make people’s life healthier and happier by serving 100% organic buckwheat from Japan.
This establishment only uses handmade soba, made by mixing organic buckwheat powder with water to create a dough, then kneaded by hand until elastic and smooth.
Only upon order will the dough pass through a machine to create strands of soba ready for boiling. Once cooked, cold water is added to bring out its chewy texture. Finally, the soba noodles are tossed to prevent them from becoming soggy.
An interesting choice would be the Laksa Soba ($13.00), a locally-inspired creation that combines the health goodness of the organic buckwheat with the iconic flavours of laksa.
Another popular localised option is the Herbal Vegetable Soba ($14.00) made from 100% natural products and has that clean, homemade taste. The rich flavours of the broth complement the gluten-free soba noodles.

Home-grown Jewel Coffee should be a familiar name, especially to those working in the CBD area who need some caffeine fix.
They provide a selection of uniquely roasted single origin espressos that provide an interesting contrast to the usual house blends.
Popular Jewel Coffee choices include the Cold Brew ($6.20), Terminator ($11.00), The Gibraltar ($5.50), v60 ($6.20) and hand-crafted Chemex ($6.20).
For a light meal to pair with coffee, there is a selection of wraps, bites, sandwiches, pies to pastas.
Recommended choices include the Beef Lasagna with Mozzarella ($10.90), Chicken Ham & Mushroom Mac & Cheese ($9.90) and Linguine Pasta with Clams ($9.90) in spicy chill sauce – all affordably priced.

Yishun: Northpoint City #B2-161 South Wing, 930 Yishun Avenue 2, Singapore 769098
Bugis: Bugis Junction #B1-K5, 200 Victoria Street, Singapore 188021
Famously endorsed by Mando-pop superstar Jay Chou, this is not your typical ‘sandwich’.
The outer layer is like Taiwanese Scallion Pancake – said to be made of premium grade flour and non-GMO soybean oil as its main ingredients; while the inside is filled with varied ingredients such as egg crepe, chicken patty, vegetables and sliced tomatoes.
Crispy and fluffy on the outside, packed with fillings on the inside.
Other than popular favourites of Chicken Bolognese, Chicken Patty, and Honey Baked Ham and Cheese, new on the menu is the Peking Duck Sandwich. The naming of different categories in the menu is closely associated to Jay Chou, be it album name to song lyrics.
The go-to choice would be the “Jay Chou Favourite” which is the Liang Chicken Sandwich, filled with diced chicken meat, egg crepe with savoury sauce beneath the outer crispy layer.
Marugame Udon & Tempura Singapore 丸亀製麺
2 Orchard Turn #B4-67/68 ION Orchard Singapore 238801
Tel: +65 6732 0687
Opening Hours: 11am – 10pm (Mon – Sun)
Marugame Udon & Tempura, known to be the No. 1 Udon noodle restaurant chain in the world, can be found in Singapore at ION Orchard basement 4.
Those who frequent Japan should have seen this brand around, also known as Marugame Seimen 丸亀製麺.
It is named after Marugame 丸亀, the city in Kagawa Prefecture known to serve the best of these thick wheat flour noodles.
The brand is known for its freshly made Sanuki-style Udon at affordable prices, starting at $5.90 for a classic regular Udon. Inexpensive considering ION Orchard is at the heart of town.
To make these special noodles, the restaurant in Singapore is equipped with a specially-imported machine that stimulates traditional methods to efficiently knead the flour.
One of the best sellers and my personal favourite is the Udon with Seasoned Cod Roe & Half Boiled Egg ($11.90, $12.90), a dry udon with mentaiko and seaweed strips.
After mixed together, the roe imparted a layer of complex salty-sweetness, while the egg helped to balance the dish. You can also appreciate the chewy texture and mild flavour of the Udon noodles.

They are known for their striking Tiffany Blue store concept, bold packaging and filled cookies.

The signature flavours include OH! Smores ($5.50), PB Lovers ($5.50), White Chunky ($5.50), Biscoff Cookie ($4.90), and Cookies n Creme ($4.90).
Using only premium dark couverture chocolate, the handcrafted delights are indeed rich and luxurious upon every bite.
Not your average cookies, plus you can also choose to top up with OREO soft serve now.

Kraftwich is where you can ‘KRAFT’ your own sandWICHes and salads, a concept by Swissbake which has been known for premium quality European bread and confectionery products.
These “Kraftwiches” are actually pizza-sized sandwiches, cut up into triangular shapes, made of multigrain and maize bread, and filled with wholesome ingredients.
It is almost like your typical sandwiches, but with a layer of crusty bread, packed full of nutritious multigrain.
They offer classic and premium Kraftwiches (from $8.90 to $15.90) containing protein-packed fillings, which includes Smoked Duck, Smoked Chicken, Beef Pastrami, Tuna & Egg,
Avocado & Cheese, Smoked Salmon, and Turkey Ham & Cheese.
There is also a new “Lifestyle Diet Menu” introduced, featuring items such as Roast Beef Keto Wrap ($12.90), Avocado & Tofu Kraftwich ($11.60), and Zesty Tuna Mediterranean Salad ($12.90) for the weight-watchers.
Beverly Hills Cheesecake
252 North Bridge Road #B1-70 Raffles City Shopping Centre, Singapore 179103
Opening Hours: 11am – 10pm (Mon – Sun)
The Beverly Hills Cheesecake store features the famous cheesecakes from The Cheesecake Factory Bakery based in California, with more than 35 “legendary” flavours available.
Spoilt for choice? The Classic Cheesecake ($7.90 for slice, $89 for whole) remains as the top-seller, known for its silky and smooth top layer, and nutty crunchy crust.
Other favourites to get are the Key Lime Pie, Mango Key Lime (seasonal), Red Velvet Cake, Wild Strawberries and Cream, Godiva Double Chocolate, and Reese Peanut Butter Cheesecake.
I had a Ghirardelli Triple Chocolate Cheesecake ($10.90 for slice, $119 for whole) which was indeed an indulgent treat, using rich and luscious chocolate from Ghirardelli.
