Known as Q&Y Kong Style Cafe previously located at The Midtown, they had shifted and rebranded as “Nirvana Dessert Café” after relocating to Arab street.
One will easily miss the entrance to Nirvana Dessert Cafe, inconspicuously located in between 2 bubble tea shops: Machi Machi and MILK, with a dark and narrow staircase leading to the 2nd floor.
Stepping inside, the 20 seater space is decorated with wooden tables and floorings, and a menu focusing on desserts and drinks.
Their signature item is the Souffle Pancakes ($9), available in both Original and Chocolate flavours.
Probably one of the most affordable Souffle Pancakes in the market that is served with 3 pieces of thick, bouncy and fluffy pancakes and a few slices of strawberries and blueberries.
Their texture is quite similar to the defunct Riz Labo Kitchen with a very soft and fluffy, wobbly, cotton-like texture and a distinctive egg taste.
Other items include Waffle with Ice Cream (Original $8.50, Chocolate $9, Charcoal $9), Strawberry Cheesecake ($8), Creme Brûlée ($5), Thai Milk Tea Pudding ($4), Tiramisu ($6) and Mango Smoothie Sago with Ice Cream ($7).
Unlike the usual Strawberry Cheesecake that is made from cream cheese, the version over here at Nirvana Dessert Cafe is a deconstructed form with cream cheese and strawberries on top of a butter cake base.
Nothing really fancy with the combination and I wished that the cake base can be a little less sweet and more refined.
The highlight is the Mango Smoothie Sago with Ice Cream ($7) made using fresh mango blended to pulp, before adding onto sago seeds, coconut milk and a scoop fo mango ice cream.
The result is a smoothie with a thick and rich texture and a natural fruity taste, chewy sago seeds and creamy ice cream all in a single glass.
Nirvana Dessert Cafe is a good hideout on the second floor away from the hustle and bustle along the busy Arab street, and literally “Nirvana’ – a place of peace and happiness.
