It did take some effort trying to locate Void Cafe, especially when it’s hidden right within the furniture shop, Etch&Bolts, at School of the Arts, Singapore (SOTA).

This joins Degree Celsius (Penang Road) and 82 Own (The Cathay) which are newly opened near Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station.

Nope, it is not located at a void deck even though Void Cafe does sound like one.

Needless to say, their place is a showroom, well-equipped with furniture pieces, arts and cushions that is for sale.

Right to the very table and chair you are sitting on.

Void Cafe fills up the “void” and fits in perfectly by providing a more complete experience where diners can fully experience the comfort of the furniture when dining in.

The homely 20-seater space for is furnished with various table-tops such as terrazzo and marble finishing.

Focusing on beverages at the moment, a 2-beans-blend (Brazil, Sumatra) is used for their espresso-based drinks roasted by local roastery – Smitten Speciality Coffee and Tea.

The usual offerings can be found, think Espresso ($3.80), Macchiato ($4.50), Americano ($4.80), Cappuccino ($5.80), Flat White ($5.80), Coffee Breve ($5.80), Mocha ($6.20), Vanilla Latte ($6.20), Caramel Latte ($6.20), Hazelnut Latte ($7.20) and Matcha Latte ($7.20).

My cup of Flat White ($5.80) was medium bodied, smooth with earthy, chocolatey and nutty notes that was well-balanced.

Their Signature Cold Brew was available in a unique shape of an arched window.

Aesthetic-wise, wordings were directly imprinted on the bottle itself to give it a sleek and smooth finishing.

Available in both Black ($6.50) and White ($7), a single origin coffee bean from Colombia was steeped for 17 hours to create their cold brew.

Being unsweetened, my White Cold Brew ($7) was too bright and acidic for my liking and I wished it was smoother and more well-balanced.

For non-coffee drinkers, alternative options include Ice Blended ($7.50 – $8.40), Hot Tea ($6 – $6.50) and Smoothie ($5.80 – $6.80).

With more than 30 drinks on their menu, Void Cafe will be an ideal shop place to chill and relax over a cup of coffee.
